Commander's Special Project

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Wisconsin has launched Foundation for Families, the 2026-2027 special project supporting the construction of the new Fisher House in Madison.

Led by State Commander Renee Simpson, this statewide campaign brings together VFW Posts, Auxiliaries, VFW Riders, Military Order of the Cootie, Cootie Auxiliary, community partners, businesses, healthcare organizations, and individual supporters in one shared mission: helping military and veteran families stay close during medical care.

The campaign goal is to raise $150,000 in support of the Madison Fisher House project.

Together We Can Build Hope

A Fisher House provides a “home away from home” near VA and military medical centers, offering free lodging to military and veteran families while their loved one receives medical care. The Madison Fisher House will expand this proven model of care in Wisconsin and help reduce the burden of hotel costs, travel, and separation during difficult medical situations.
