Wisconsin VFW Partners with Center for Veterans’ Issues
Milwaukee—Wisconsin VFW and (CVI) Center for
Veterans’ Issues partner in a high-tech effort to provide instant resource
contacts to Veterans who find themselves in times of transition or need. This
app
makes it simple for Veterans or active and reserve service members to reach
services such as education, employment, financial, legal, or emergency assistance
for housing or meals. The ability to quickly find available resources is crucial
to helping those in need. Three clicks could result in the Veteran finding the
resources they are seeking. The app was developed by Center for Veterans Issues,
Ltd. and is being "Powered” by the Wisconsin VFW. It is available at the Apple
and Google app stores for both iPhones and Androids.
The Center for Veterans Issues, Ltd. was established in 1989 and is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to "provide housing and supportive services to help improve the qualify of life for ALL Veterans, their families and the communities in which they live and serve.” CVI President and CEO, Eduardo Garza states "We are determined to continue our mission to serve our nation’s heroes and their families when they find themselves in need. Our new partnership with the VFW Department of Wisconsin allows our two organizations to be stronger "together” in order to better close the gap between valuable resources and the Veterans who need them.”
The Wisconsin VFW was chartered in 1921 and has been assisting the Veterans in the state for a century. State Commander Jason Johns says of the partnership "We are very impressed with CVI’s commitment to assisting service members transitioning back to civilian life, improving Veteran employability, combatting Veteran homelessness, and ultimately reducing the numbers of our brothers and sisters committing suicide. Bringing together our combined resources and efforts will exponentially increase the success of the mission at hand.”
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of Wisconsin has 252 posts in 10 districts with almost 25,000 members and an Auxiliary of over 8,500 members. "No One Does More for Veterans.”
