Wisconsin native and lifelong resident Bob Buehler graduated from UW-Whitewater in December 1981, where he was also commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Reserve through ROTC. He feels privileged to have served in a variety of increased leadership and staff positions during a 30+ year service with the United States Army Reserve, from January 1981 to December 2011.
Bob’s active-duty assignments (January 1981 to August 1993) included: Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; a 1-yr overseas tour in the Republic of South Korea (HQs, 19th Support Command), and Rock Island Arsenal, IL.
His Reserve assignments from January 1994 through to retirement in December 2011, included: 84th Division in Milwaukee, WI; 2nd Brigade, 85th Division at Fort McCoy, WI; mobilization in support of Operation Noble Eagle; and upon promotion to Colonel, serviced as Deputy Chief of Staff for Materiel (G4) for the 416th Theater Engineer Command (TEC) in Darien, IL. Bob also transferred into the Multi-Functional Support Command (MSFC) at Rock Island Arsenal, IL, and served a 1-year overseas mobilization tour in Kuwait/ Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (November 2008 to October 2009).
Bob concluded his career at Rock Island, IL, as a Joint Munitions Command Detachment Commander. He is a Distinguished Graduate of the Air Assault School at Fort Campbell, KY, and a 2009 Inductee to the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe. A Bronze Legacy Life member of VFW Post 1393 in West Bend, he continues to serve as Post Commander. This is Bob’s fourth consecutive term as District 6 Commander.
