Timothy J. Neary grew up on the south side of Milwaukee and graduated from St. Francis high school in 2001. He served 13 years in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. In August 2003 he deployed with Bravo Battery 1–126TH Field Artillery Unit, out of Oak Creek Wisconsin in support of Operation Iraq Freedom (OIF). In June 2006 he was sent to Yuma, Arizona in support of the Southwest Border Mission to assist Border Patrol. In February 2009 he deployed to Iraq with Bravo Company 256TH BSB, out of Kenosha Wisconsin.
After the deployments and service, Timothy wanted to continue to work with veterans. He accepted a position with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Veterans Outreach Services as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist, working out of Waukesha Wisconsin.
In January 2012, he accepted a position with the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) as a Claims Officer. This is when he started representing and advocating for veterans and their families to obtain their VA benefits. After six years working with the WDVA claims office, he was given the opportunity to work for the VFW service office as a claim consultant. He served as the interim Department Service Officer from 2020 – 2021 and was appointed as the Department Servicer in December 2023.
Tim is a Life Member of the Gross-Yaksh Post 6498 in Milwaukee.
