Publishing Project To Commemorate WI VFW & Members Service

- 6/9/2017

At our MidWinter C of A in February, your Council of Administration voted to approve participation in a unique project that will benefit your State VFW and our membership in a number of ways. Once approved, it was left to the company running the project to work out the schedule for content collection and production. The project was to begin as soon as they were ready.

It got under way in May, before we had a chance to get the word out. So, here's the word now.

The information verification cards are legitimate and no confidential information is collected. The publishers will be verifying your contact information, and asking you where you served to earn your VFW eligibility. You can share as much or as little information as you like. It's up to you. Some of us will even supply a photo or two from our time in service, and a current photo. It's up to the individual.

The end product will honor us individually as Combat Veterans, and will also document the unique history of our VFW Department of Wisconsin. This will be published in an attractive book that will be available for purchase. NO PURCHASE IS REQUIRED. Some of us will want a copy, some of course won't. No harm, no foul.

So all we're asking is that you respond to the verification request and the rest is up to you.

What follows below is a copy of a flyer about the project and a list of frequently-asked questions.

Please participate to whatever extent you can, but at the minimum, respond to that yellow card or the email you might receive from the company, PCI, out of Dallas, Texas! You can even visit their website at http://publishingconcepts.com

Frequently Asked Questions

By members

  1. I received an email/postcard/phone call from a company asking for my personal information. They said they were working on a directory for Wisconsin VFW. Is this a legitimate project, or is it a scam?

We have partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce our new members directory. PCI is a company located in Dallas, TX that publishes directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities and military organizations across the nation. This project allows Wisconsin VFW to receive important updates to our database so we know more about our members and how we can better serve you and future members.

  1. How do I know my information will only be used for directory purposes?

Wisconsin VFW has a contractual agreement with PCI that states:
a. The names, addresses and information provided to PCI by Wisconsin VFW for the publication of the Directory will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the Directory and except as required by court order or law.

b. The Directory will be made available only to members of Wisconsin VFW. Upon completion of the project, PCI will return to Wisconsin VFW any and all electronic files that have been supplied by Wisconsin VFW or produced by PCI in connection with the production of the Directory.

  1. I would like to verify and update my information. How may I do this?

If you have received a postcard or an email with a telephone number, you may call the number to speak with a dedicated representative for the Wisconsin VFW project. The representative will verify all the information we have on file for you and make any updates where needed. One of the numbers for the Wisconsin VFW members is 888-920-2419.

If you have received an email with an embedded link, you may go to the online site to review your information. If you have questions, you may call PCI’s customer service desk at 1.800.982.1590.

  1. Can anyone purchase a directory?

The Wisconsin VFW members Directory is available for sale only to Wisconsin VFW members.

  1. When will I receive my directory?

The total duration of the directory project is about 12 months. Since we began the project in May 2017, the directories will be distributed in May 2018.

  1. Can I choose some or all of my information not to be printed in the directory?

When you call to update your information, you can tell the representative what information you would prefer to have excluded. You may also communicate this information to the PCI customer service desk (1.800.982.1590) or to the VFW.

  1. I ordered a directory/package over the phone and would like to cancel my order. How do I do this?

Call the PCI customer service help desk at 1.800.982.1590, and they will take care of this for you.
